Man Suspected of Carjacking Arrested in Beverly Hills
19-Year-Old Suspect Faces Charges of Robbery and Attempted Murder
On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, a 19-year-old man was arrested in Beverly Hills on suspicion of carjacking and attempted murder. The suspect, identified as Daniel Ortiz, was taken into custody following a brief pursuit by police. Ortiz allegedly carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint and fled the scene. Officers pursued Ortiz, but he crashed the stolen car into a parked vehicle. Ortiz then allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police. The victim of the carjacking was not injured, but Ortiz faces charges of robbery and attempted murder.
Ortiz Has a History of Violent Crime
According to police, Ortiz has a history of violent crime. In 2022, he was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon and sentenced to two years in prison. He was released in December 2022. Ortiz is currently being held without bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2023.
