Eagles' Nick Sirianni won't show viral Jalen Carter college sack of Jayden Daniels
The Athletic's nationwide college football writer, Bruce Feldman, tweeted about Jalen Carter's sack of Jayden Daniels and called it "the single best college football play he ever saw."
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said he won't show his team viral video of Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter’s sack of LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Sirianni said he believes the play is “too good” and doesn’t want his players to try to imitate it.
“I’m not going to show that to our guys,” Sirianni said. “That’s too good. I don’t want them trying to do that. That’s just a freak play.”
Carter’s sack of Daniels was one of the most impressive plays of the 2022 college football season.
Carter, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle, split two LSU offensive linemen and chased down Daniels from behind. Carter then lifted Daniels off the ground and slammed him to the turf.
The sack helped Georgia secure its first national championship since 1980.
Sirianni said he understands why people are so impressed with Carter’s sack, but he doesn’t want his players to try to replicate it.
“That’s just a once-in-a-lifetime play,” Sirianni said. “I don’t want our guys to think that’s something they can do every play.”
The Eagles are preparing for their 2023 season opener against the Detroit Lions on September 11.
