Costa Rica Eliminates Mexico in Penalty Shootout

The Costa Rica national football team has advanced to the final of the 2023 Concacaf Nations League after defeating Mexico in a penalty shootout in the semi-final on Thursday night. The match was tied 1-1 after regulation and extra time, but Costa Rica prevailed 5-4 in the shootout.

Costa Rica took the lead in the 58th minute through a goal from Joel Campbell, but Mexico equalized in the 85th minute through a goal from Hirving Lozano. Neither team could find a winning goal in extra time, so the match went to a penalty shootout.

Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas was the hero for his team, saving two of Mexico's five penalties. Campbell, Bryan Ruiz, Celso Borges, and Brandon Aguilera all scored their penalties for Costa Rica. Mexico's Raul Jimenez, Andres Guardado, and Edson Alvarez all scored their penalties, but Lozano and Uriel Antuna both missed their attempts.

Panama Advances to Final with Victory Over Honduras

The Panama national football team also advanced to the final of the Concacaf Nations League after defeating Honduras 2-1 in the other semi-final on Thursday night.

Panama took the lead in the 32nd minute through a goal from Rolando Blackburn, but Honduras equalized in the 50th minute through a goal from Romell Quioto.

The winning goal came in the 65th minute, when Panama's Ismael Diaz scored a stunning goal from outside the box.

Costa Rica and Panama to Meet in Final

Costa Rica and Panama will now face each other in the final of the Concacaf Nations League on Sunday night. The match will be played at the Estadio Nacional in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Costa Rica will be looking to win their first Concacaf Nations League title, while Panama will be looking to win their second title. Panama won the inaugural Concacaf Nations League title in 2019.
