USDOT building in DC evacuated, roads closed after suspicious package reported
Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) building in Washington, D.C. was evacuated on Thursday, March 2, 2023 after a suspicious package was reported.
The building was evacuated at approximately 10:30 a.m. after a report of a suspicious package in the mailroom.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the U.S. Secret Service responded to the scene and are investigating the package.
The building has been evacuated and roads in the area have been closed.
The evacuation includes the main USDOT building at 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE, as well as the Nassif Building and the Herbert C. Hoover Building.
The MPD is asking the public to avoid the area.
