South Korea, Kuwait: Foreign Ministers discuss expanding cooperation

Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met with his South Korean counterpart, Park Jin, on Thursday in Kuwait City to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said.
At a joint conference, Al-Sabah said that the two sides discussed expanding cooperation in renewable energy, infrastructure, advanced technology, and defense industries.
He added that they also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the situations in Yemen and Iran.
Park, for his part, said that South Korea considers Kuwait a key partner in the Middle East and is keen on developing the bilateral relationship in all fields.
He added that the two countries are working on establishing a joint economic committee to enhance trade and investment cooperation.
Al-Sabah and Park also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on establishing a mechanism for regular political consultations between the two countries.
The two ministers also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, culture, and tourism.
Kuwait and South Korea have enjoyed strong relations for decades. The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1979, and South Korea has been a major investor in Kuwait's oil and gas sector.
In recent years, the two countries have also worked to expand cooperation in other areas, including renewable energy, infrastructure, and advanced technology.
