Pepi Gives Pochettino Win For USA In Jamaica
Pochettino’s Pepi Goal Earns Friendly Win
Ricardo Pepi scored in the 63rd minute as the United States beat Jamaica 1-0 in a friendly on Thursday night. The goal was Pepi’s second in as many games for the USMNT, and it was enough to give Gregg Berhalter’s side a win in their first match of 2022.
The match was played in front of a crowd of 12,000 at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. The United States controlled the possession for much of the game, but they struggled to create clear-cut chances.
Pepi’s goal came against the run of play. Jamaica had a good chance to take the lead in the 55th minute, but Leon Bailey’s shot was saved by Matt Turner. Eight minutes later, Pepi scored the only goal of the game.
Pepi Continues To Impress
Pepi’s goal was his fourth in his last six games for the USMNT. The 19-year-old forward has quickly become a key player for Berhalter’s side, and he is one of the most promising young players in the United States.
Pepi’s goal was also a sign of the progress that the USMNT has made under Berhalter. The team is now unbeaten in its last four games, and they have won their last two matches by a combined score of 3-0.
The United States will now turn their attention to the World Cup qualifiers. They will face Canada on January 30th, and then they will travel to Honduras on February 2nd.
