North Dakota Fighting Hawks defeat Dickinson State Blue Hawks 85-54
UND starts season with convincing home win
The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks men's basketball team opened their 2023-24 season with an impressive 85-54 victory over the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks on Tuesday night at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
UND was led by junior guard Paul Bruns, who scored a game-high 22 points. Bruns was 8-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. Senior forward Filip Rebraca added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Hawks, while junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff chipped in 14 points.
The Fighting Hawks shot 50.0% from the field, including 40.0% from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Blue Hawks 42-29.
Dickinson State was led by senior guard Jalen Edwards, who scored 15 points. Sophomore forward Carter Evans added 12 points for the Blue Hawks.
The Fighting Hawks next game is on Monday, November 14, against the Northern Illinois Huskies at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois.
