Nittany Lions Fall to Badgers in Three Sets
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 3 Penn State women's volleyball team was swept by No. 7 Wisconsin in three sets (21-25, 18-25, 15-25) on Saturday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.
With the loss, Penn State falls to 16-4 overall and 7-2 in the Big Ten, while Wisconsin improves to 14-4 overall and 6-3 in the conference.
Badgers Dominate at Net
Wisconsin out-hit Penn State .345 to .145 in the match and had a 13-to-6 advantage in blocks.
The Badgers were led by Dana Rettke, who had 15 kills and hit .471. Anna Smrek added 10 kills and hit .364.
Penn State was led by Jonni Parker, who had 10 kills. Kaitlyn Hord had eight kills and hit .353.
Penn State Struggles to Find Rhythm
Penn State never led in any of the three sets and was outplayed by Wisconsin in every facet of the game.
The Nittany Lions had 28 attack errors and 13 service errors, while Wisconsin had just 10 attack errors and four service errors.
Penn State also struggled to pass Wisconsin's serve, which allowed the Badgers to set up their offense and score points in bunches.
Tough Loss for Nittany Lions
The loss is a tough one for Penn State, which had won its last four matches.
The Nittany Lions will look to bounce back next weekend when they travel to Iowa for a pair of matches against the Hawkeyes.
Penn State will face Iowa on Friday, October 28 at 8 p.m. ET and on Saturday, October 29 at 7 p.m. ET.
