The New York Rangers continued their impressive start to the season on Tuesday night, cruising to a 5-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks at Madison Square Garden thanks to a multi-point performance from Chris Kreider and a dynamic display from Adam Fox.
Kreider opened the scoring just over six minutes into the first period, converting a pass from Mika Zibanejad. The Rangers forward added his second goal of the game midway through the second period, hammering home a rebound off a shot by Fox to give New York a 2-0 lead.
Fox, who had assisted on Kreider's first goal, extended the Rangers' lead to three with a power-play goal early in the third period.
Alexis Lafreniere made it 4-0 just a few minutes later, converting a pass from Artemiy Panarin. The Sharks finally got on the board with a power-play goal of their own from Erik Karlsson, but K'Andre Miller restored the Rangers' four-goal lead with a goal late in the third period.
Igor Shesterkin was solid in net for the Rangers, stopping 28 of 29 shots, while James Reimer made 32 saves for the Sharks.
