Mauricio Pochettino Names USMNT Squad for Concacaf Nations League Quarterfinals
The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) will face El Salvador in the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Nations League on June 25th, 2023. The match will be played at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador.
USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino has named a 23-man squad for the match. The squad includes a number of players who were part of the team that won the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup, such as Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie, and Tyler Adams.
Other notable players in the squad include goalkeeper Matt Turner, defenders SergiƱo Dest and Walker Zimmerman, and forwards Ricardo Pepi and Jesus Ferreira.
Pochettino said that he is confident in the squad that he has selected for the match against El Salvador.
"We have a good mix of experience and youth in this squad," Pochettino said. "I am confident that we can go to El Salvador and get a result that will put us in a good position to reach the semifinals."
The USMNT is currently ranked 15th in the FIFA World Rankings, while El Salvador is ranked 69th.
The two teams have met 19 times in the past, with the USMNT winning 14 of those matches. El Salvador has won two matches, and the other three matches have ended in draws.
The USMNT will be looking to reach the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League for the second time. The team reached the semifinals in 2019, but lost to Mexico in the final.
The winner of the match between the USMNT and El Salvador will advance to the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League. The semifinals will be played on June 28th and 29th, 2023.
