Lady Lions Defeat Duquesne 92-83
A Low-Scoring First Quarter and Career Performances Propel Lady Lions to Victory
The Lady Lions defeated the Duquesne Dukes 92-83 on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Bryce Jordan Center, improving their overall record to 5-3.
The Lady Lions came out of the gates slow, scoring only 10 points in the first quarter. The Dukes led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Strong Second Quarter Gives Lady Lions Lead
The Lady Lions bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring the Dukes 26-19. They took a 36-35 lead into halftime.
Senior guard Niya Beverly led the Lady Lions in scoring in the first half with 12 points. Sophomore forward Amari Carter added 10 points.
Lady Lions Maintain Lead in Third Quarter
The Lady Lions continued to play well in the third quarter, outscoring the Dukes 24-21. They led 60-56 going into the fourth quarter.
Carter and Beverly continued to lead the Lady Lions in scoring, each scoring 8 points in the third quarter
Lady Lions Close Out Game in Fourth Quarter
The Lady Lions closed out the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Dukes 32-27. They won the game by a score of 92-83.
Beverly finished the game with a career-high 31 points. Carter also had a career-high, scoring 29 points.
The Lady Lions will be back in action on Sunday, December 4, 2022, when they host the Bucknell Bison at the Bryce Jordan Center.
