Lady Bears Grab Road Win at Wichita
Bears Take Down Shockers by 14
The Lady Bears traveled to Wichita on Saturday, Feb. 11 and came away with a 70-56 victory over the Shockers. The win was Missouri State's fourth straight and improved their record to 17-7 overall and 11-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
MSU was led by senior guard Sydney Wilson, who had 18 points and 5 rebounds. Junior forward Jasmine Franklin added 16 points and 8 rebounds, while senior guard Brice Calip had 14 points and 5 assists.
The Lady Bears shot 46.2% from the field, including 36.4% from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Shockers 36-28.
Wichita State was led by senior guard Mariah McCully, who had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Junior forward Jane Asinde added 12 points and 7 rebounds.
The Shockers shot 38.9% from the field, including 25% from three-point range. They also committed 16 turnovers.
The Lady Bears took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Shockers 20-11. They led by 10 at the half and never looked back.
The win was MSU's first in Wichita since 2015.
MSU Improves to 17-7 Overall, 11-3 in MVC Play
With the win, MSU improved to 17-7 overall and 11-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They are now tied for second place in the conference standings, one game behind Drake.
The Lady Bears have three regular season games remaining, all at home. They will host Illinois State on Feb. 15, Valparaiso on Feb. 18, and Indiana State on Feb. 25.
