Kyrie Irving Out for Mavericks Tonight in Utah
Quentin Grimes Could Get the Start
Irving's Absence Opens Door for Other Mavericks Players
Kyrie Irving will not play for the Dallas Mavericks tonight against the Utah Jazz due to a right calf strain, the team announced. This is the second straight game that Irving has missed due to the injury.
With Irving out, Quentin Grimes is expected to get the start at point guard. Grimes has started 10 games for the Mavericks this season, averaging 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Irving's absence is a blow to the Mavericks, who are trying to climb the Western Conference standings. Irving is averaging 27.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game this season.
The Mavericks will also be without Dorian Finney-Smith tonight due to a right adductor strain. Finney-Smith is averaging 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season.
The Mavericks are 6-4 this season without Irving in the lineup. They will be looking to improve on that record tonight against the Jazz.
