Kansas State takes advantage of hot shooting to defeat Cleveland State
Manhattan, Kan. - The Kansas State Wildcats took advantage of hot shooting to defeat the Cleveland State Vikings 84-77 on Wednesday night at Bramlage Coliseum.
The Wildcats (4-1) shot 52.8% from the field, including 10-of-22 from three-point range. The Vikings (2-3) shot just 39.7% from the field and were 7-of-27 from three-point range.
Kansas State was led by guard Markquis Nowell, who scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists. Forward Keyontae Johnson added 19 points and seven rebounds, and guard Desi Sills scored 15 points.
Cleveland State was led by guard Idris Lawrence, who scored 19 points. Forward D'Moi Hodge added 17 points and 10 rebounds, and guard Tristan Enaruna scored 14 points.
The Wildcats took control of the game early, taking a 10-point lead midway through the first half. The Vikings cut the lead to five points with just over two minutes remaining in the half, but the Wildcats scored the final four points of the half to take a 42-33 lead into the break.
The Wildcats extended their lead to 15 points early in the second half, and they held on for the victory. The Vikings never got closer than eight points in the second half.
