Italy and France reach Nations League quarter-finals

Italy and France took top spot in their Nations League groups on Sunday to reach the quarter-finals

Italy cruised past Hungary 2-0 in Budapest courtesy of goals from Giacomo Raspadori and Federico Dimarco to win Group A3 with 11 points, two ahead of second-placed Hungary.

France came from behind to beat Austria 2-1 in Group A1 to leapfrog Croatia, who they face in their final pool outing on Wednesday.

Italy, who won the European Championship last year, never looked in danger of slipping up in Budapest.

Raspadori broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, pouncing on a rebound after Gianluca Scamacca's shot was saved. Dimarco sealed the win in the 52nd minute after a good run and cross from Alessandro Bastoni.

France come from behind to beat Austria 2-1 in Nations League

France, who lost to Denmark in the Nations League final last year, fell behind to Austria in the 37th minute when Christoph Baumgartner curled home a superb effort from outside the area.

Kylian Mbappe equalized for France in the 56th minute when he squeezed the ball in after Theo Hernandez's cross was saved. Mbappe then turned provider for Olivier Giroud, who headed home the winning goal in the 65th minute.
