Haaland on target as Norway secure victory; Walker and Lewis impress for England
Erling Haaland nets the winner as Norway edge past Slovenia in UEFA Nations League clash
Norway claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Slovenia in their UEFA Nations League encounter on Saturday, with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland scoring the decisive goal in the second half.
After a goalless first half, Haaland broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, coolly slotting home a penalty after Martin Odegaard had been fouled in the box. The goal was Haaland's second in as many games for his country, following his strike against Sweden on Thursday.
Norway held on to their lead in the closing stages, with goalkeeper Andre Hansen making a crucial save to deny Slovenia a late equalizer.
Walker and Lewis star as England ease past Italy in friendly
In other international action, England recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory over Italy in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium on Friday.
Manchester City defender Kyle Walker opened the scoring for England in the 29th minute, heading home a cross from Bukayo Saka. Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson doubled the lead in the 68th minute, finishing off a fine team move.
The victory was a much-needed boost for England, who were beaten 1-0 by Hungary in their previous match. It was also a good performance from Gareth Southgate's side, who looked more organized and cohesive than they have done in recent months.
