Green Lantern, 2 Other Rides to Close at Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey’s largest theme park, is set to demolish three rides, including the Green Lantern coaster.
The park confirmed on Tuesday that the Green Lantern, the SkyScreamer, and the Big Wheel will be removed to make way for new attractions in the future.
The Green Lantern opened in 2011 and was one of the park’s most popular coasters. It was based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name and featured a 150-foot drop and speeds of up to 63 miles per hour.
Park officials said the Green Lantern is being removed because it has reached the end of its lifespan. The SkyScreamer, a 22-story drop tower, will also be removed, as will the Big Wheel, which was one of the park’s original attractions when it opened in 1974.
Six Flags Great Adventure has not yet announced what new attractions will replace the three rides that are being removed. However, the park has a history of investing in new rides and attractions, and it is likely that the new additions will be just as exciting as the ones that are being removed.
