Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker will miss some time with a knee injury, the team announced Monday.

Butker suffered the injury during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He was attempting a 54-yard field goal in the fourth quarter when he went down. Butker was able to walk off the field under his own power, but he was later seen on crutches.

The Chiefs have not yet announced how long Butker will be out, but he is expected to miss at least a few weeks.

In Butker's absence, the Chiefs will turn to Matt Ammendola. Ammendola was signed by the Chiefs last week after Butker was placed on injured reserve. Ammendola has made 80.6% of his field goal attempts in his career.

The Chiefs will also have the option of promoting kicker Austin Seibert from the practice squad.

Seibert was signed by the Chiefs last month after he was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Seibert has made 81.3% of his field goal attempts in his career.

The Chiefs are hoping that Butker will be able to return soon, but they are confident that Ammendola or Seibert will be able to fill in adequately in his absence.

The Chiefs are currently 2-1 on the season and will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
