Belgium and Italy Draw in UEFA Nations League Match
Belgium and Italy played out a 1-1 draw in their UEFA Nations League match on Sunday.
Romelu Lukaku gave Belgium the lead in the 45th minute, but Nicolo Barella equalized for Italy in the 69th minute. The result leaves Belgium top of Group A3 with four points from two games, while Italy is second with two points.
The match was played in front of a sell-out crowd at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels. Belgium started the game brightly and had the best of the chances in the first half. Dries Mertens hit the post in the 10th minute, and Lukaku had a goal ruled out for offside in the 25th minute.
Italy grew into the game as the half went on and had a few chances of their own. Ciro Immobile had a shot saved by Thibaut Courtois in the 35th minute, and Federico Chiesa fired wide in the 40th minute.
Belgium took the lead just before half-time when Lukaku headed in a cross from Nacer Chadli. Italy came out fighting in the second half and equalized in the 69th minute when Barella fired home from close range.
Both teams had chances to win the game in the closing stages, but neither could find a winning goal. The draw leaves Belgium top of Group A3 with four points from two games, while Italy is second with two points.
