Woolworths, Coles to defend against class action
Woolworths and Coles are set to defend themselves against a class action lawsuit alleging they misled customers about the country of origin of their home brand products.
The lawsuit, filed in the Federal Court of Australia, alleges that Woolworths and Coles sold products that were labelled as being made in Australia when they were actually made in other countries.
The lawsuit is being funded by law firm Maurice Blackburn, which is also representing customers in a similar class action against Aldi.
Australia votes for ‘permanent sovereignty’ for Palestinians at UN
Australia has voted in favor of a United Nations resolution calling for “permanent sovereignty” for the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.
The resolution, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on Thursday, calls for an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Australia was one of 128 countries that voted in favor of the resolution. The United States and Israel were among the nine countries that voted against it.
