1 dead, 1 injured in Greenfield fire
Firefighters battled a blaze that tore through a Greenfield home early Sunday morning, leaving one person dead and one injured.
The fire broke out at a home on the 400 block of South State Street around 12:30 a.m., according to the Greenfield Fire Department. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, but not before it caused significant damage to the home. One person was found dead inside the home, and another person was transported to the hospital with injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say it does not appear to be suspicious.
The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
